A labiaplasty, also referred to as a labia rejuvenation, is a surgical technique that board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Suzman employs in order to resize and reshape the labia. Many women seek this procedure in an effort to restore their vaginal appearance after child birth, weight loss, or other situations, such as birth defects, that may cause deformities. This can be a successful procedure that helps to restore women's confidence and relieve their discomfort caused by their deformed or impaired labia. Dr. Suzman is glad to offer a specialized treatment plan during a private and discreet consultation at WESTMED Group's Westchester County, NY or Greenwich, CT office.
"Excellent surgeon - Dr Suzman did a superb job on my facelift. He also did fat transfer, chemical peel and Botox. I love the way I look in the mirror thanks to Dr Suzman. He has a terrific, caring personality - he is wonderful! No problem getting appointments, no wait time. Office staff is wonderful. I could not be more pleased."- Anonymous / Vitals / Jan 30, 2019
"Dr. Suzman is so caring and so knowledgeable. I have seen him many times over the years for both cosmetic and medical reasons. He is a calming presence. If you want to see him for cosmetic reasons, he’s fantastic. You will NEVER look like you had filler or Botox. You will just look younger. If you are going for medical reasons, he is really the best. Very thoughtful in his approach."- C.A. / Google / Jan 25, 2020
"Dr. Suzman closed after my MOHS surgery. The surgery was front & center on my nose. I have to say -- Dr. Suzman & the staff at his office, as well as the Rye Ambulatory Center, made a painful and uncomfortable situation as pleasant as possible with his informative, calming & pleasant nature, as well as a super-delightful staff. Helen Reyes, his PA-C, who handled a lot of my post-op visits and fresh wound care, was superb. Highly recommend."- G.D. / Google / Oct 26, 2019

"Dr. Suzman is wonderful! So is his staff! He is one of the few doctors who does not make you wait either. A rarity for sure. I went in for a procedure in January. He found a ruptured implant and a Hernia. The surgey took much longer than anticipated. The results are fantastic! Could not be happier. His specialties are breast and face. Board certified and a pleasure to talk to. Again, so is his staff! Go see him. You will be ecstatic too!!"- J.O. / Yelp / Oct 03, 2019
If you are self-conscious about the way your vaginal area appears, meaning, you have excess skin and tissue that creates a bulge or hangs, then a labiaplasty may be a consideration for you. It is recommended that women wait to have this surgery until after their final pregnancy. In addition, it is important to maintain a healthy weight, as a significant weight gain could compromise the results of the surgical outcome.
What to Expect
While labiaplasty can be performed by both an OB/GYN or a plastic surgeon, it has become commonplace for this abnormal skin deformity to be addressed by a cosmetic surgeon so that scarring can be kept to a minimum, and the overall contour and aesthetic appearance optimized. During the procedure, excess skin is removed, and the shape of the labia are reduced and reshaped. A common technique is to use the "V" approach, which removes the excess skin into a natural V shape. Surgical tools are used to reshape the inner folds of the labia so they no longer protrude. It is important to find an experienced labia rejuvenation surgeon who understands that this procedure is both for aesthetics and function. A qualified surgeon will not only address the appearance, but will also preserve the feeling, nerves, and sensitivity of the labia with minimal scarring.
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure and is performed under anesthesia. After surgery, women should avoid strenuous activities, such as exercise, for about 4 – 6 weeks. In addition, tampon usages, sexual intercourse, and tight clothing should be avoided as well so that the area can properly heal. Scarring following labiaplasty is almost completely unnoticeable. This procedure results in a vaginal appearance that is healthy, natural, and pleasing. In addition, symptoms such as chronic irritations, sexual discomfort, etc. will be significantly reduced.
