Rhinoplasty at 60 vs 16: How age affects nose job outcomes

Am I too Old for a Nose Job?
Can you get a rhinoplasty at age 60?
How is it different than a nose job as a teen?
People of all ages may seek rhinoplasty to refine the shape or size of their nose, improve breathing, or correct past injuries. What many don’t realize is that a plastic surgeon's approach to rhinoplasty varies significantly between younger and older patients.
As we age, our skin's elasticity decreases, making it more challenging to achieve dramatic changes in the nose's shape or size. This is similar to procedures like liposuction, where surgeons rely on the skin's natural ability to contract. While younger patients can expect significant skin tightening, older patients may experience more loose skin post-surgery.
To avoid an unnatural or "blobby" appearance, a skilled plastic surgeon must be cautious and precise, especially when operating on older patients. Over-aggressive reductions to the nose's cartilage, bone, or width can lead to undesirable results, particularly in the tip.
The good news is that most rhinoplasty patients in their 50's and 60's do not want drastic changes that make them look too different.
Below are examples of real patients in their teens and 50s/60s. Notice the more subtle, age-appropriate results of rhinoplasty on older patients, which prioritize safety and natural-looking outcomes. All surgeries are performed by Dr. Suzman at his Westchester County, NY Surgery Center in Rye or Greenwich Hospital, CT Holly Hill Ambulatory surgery center.
