BOTOX is one of the most popular cosmetic facial injections designed to soften wrinkles and rejuvenate the appearance of the face. When purified botulinum toxin type A is injected into the skin, it acts as a relaxing agent, temporarily preventing facial muscles from contracting and allowing wrinkles to diminish.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Suzman offers this treatment at Summit Group’s offices in Westchester County, NY, and Greenwich, CT, providing an effective solution to reduce wrinkles and restore youthful skin. The results, including tighter, fuller, and smoother skin, can last for 4 to 7 months following a BOTOX injection, although individual results may vary. Dr. Suzman has achieved Expert Injector Status with New Beauty Magazine.
Together with Helen Reyes, PA-C, our practice has successfully performed thousands of BOTOX treatments, prioritizing safety and achieving excellent outcomes. In addition to BOTOX, we also offer Dysport and other neuromodulators as needed.
The most noticeable results are typically seen in areas around the eyes, such as the crow's feet, as well as between the brows and across the forehead. For individuals with lower brows or eyelids, more cautious treatment approaches are recommended, as there is a potential for brow drooping after the procedure, although this effect is temporary and not permanent.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
The ideal candidates for BOTOX injections are individuals in good health who exhibit the following signs:
- Dynamic wrinkles
- Smile lines and/or frown lines
- Lines around the eyes, often referred to as "crow’s feet"
Individuals who may want to avoid BOTOX include those taking blood thinners, those with a history of eyelid or brow drooping, anyone experiencing an active skin infection or irritation, individuals with muscle weakness disorders, and those who have allergies or have had unsatisfactory results from previous treatments.

What to Expect
The doctor will look at the quantity, depth, and location of your dynamic wrinkles to mark the areas of the muscles of the face that will be treated. With an ultra-fine syringe, BOTOX will be carefully injected into the marked areas. Most patients report mild discomfort when the needle pierces the skin, but numbing creams and cold compresses can be used to make your treatment more comfortable.
Other Considerations
Besides some swelling and redness for 3 – 4 hours, you should be able to return to your regular activities after the injection. We encourage all of our BOTOX patients to avoid exercise for 24 hours and to sleep upright the first night after the treatment. Complete results after BOTOX are visible (smoother forehead and diminished wrinkles) in about 5 – 7 days. Many patients feel that BOTOX treatments make their skin look radiant, they feel younger, and look well rested.
