About Tummy Tucks
A tummy tuck, officially called an abdominoplasty, is a popular surgical technique that is used to address excess belly fat. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Suzman offers this procedure in Westchester County, NY and Greenwich, CT to contour and slim the abdominal area by carefully removing the fat and tightening the remaining skin. This is a common procedure, often used on women who have experienced stubborn fat due to pregnancy or weight loss but are unable to remedy their belly fat from diet or exercise. Dr. Suzman can offer a specialized treatment plan for each patient at WESTMED Group and determine which tummy tuck method will render the best results.
Tummy Tuck Reviews
"I would highly recommend Dr. Suzman to anyone who is seeking a plastic surgeon. He was kind and very professional, making me feel very at ease with discussing what I wanted done. When I wasn't sure about undergoing the procedure, Dr. Suzman said I could come back (along with my husband and anyone else I wanted to bring) and ask questions to help me make my decision. I had a limited tummy tuck with liposuction and my recovery was much easier than I had anticipated. I am only 7-weeks post-surgery and I'm back at the gym on the tennis courts again. Although Dr. Suzman said I won't see my final result for several months, I'm already pleased with my results."- Anonymous / Vitals / Sep 11, 2012

"I recently had a hysterectomy and tummy tuck together. Dr. Suzman performed my tummy tuck. Prior to surgery he went over options with me and then explained how he would perform the surgery. I was surprised that I was not in as much pain as I thought I would be after my surgery. I felt more achy than pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Suzman. Each time I met with him my questions were answered fully and I never felt rushed during my appointments. I found him and his staff to be very professional and courteous. I am very, very happy with my surgery. I would recommend him very highly."- Google User / Google / May 19, 2012

The best candidates for tummy tuck surgery are those in good health and who at or near their desired weight. Tummy tuck surgery should not be used as a form of weight loss, but as a means to tone the midsection after having already met your weight loss goals. Good candidates for tummy tucks are men or women who experience:
- Excessive skin around the belly button.
- A weakened abdominal wall.
- Sagging or loosened skin on the abdomen.
What to Expect
During the procedure, the surgeon will usually make a horizontal incision, typically between the belly button and pubic area to remove excess fat and tissue from the abdomen. The fascia, tissue beneath the skin, will be tightened and should the belly button require moving, it will be brought out through a small incision and repositioned. Excess skin will also be removed and the incision along the pubic area will be stitched. The result of this procedure is a minor scar that falls along the bikini line for easy coverage. Patients can expect the procedure to take approximately 3 hours, depending on their aesthetic goals.
Following abdominoplasty, there will be some swelling and bruising around the abdomen and belly button. For the first few days following the procedure, tubes may be used to drain the incision site of any blood and fluid. Some patients may be issued an antibiotic to help prevent infection. Patients will experience some abdominal pain, which is normal, and the swelling can take 6 weeks or more to subside. It is very important that patients are careful moving around following the first few months of surgery and they will need to schedule follow up appointments at our office periodically for progress checks.
